I finally got my new camera!

December 29, 2013
I came home from visiting my family during christmas last afternoon and was SO happy to finally get my new Canon EOS 600D camera. Words can not describe my excitement, but sadly it was too dark to really test it and see what kinda pictures it can take, so I decided to wait until today and take a walk in a beautiful nature reserve.
I’m always amazed by how beautiful Denmark can be in winter time. The colors are so strong and vivid,
especially in contrast to the leaveless trees and grey skies.
I can now selfie much, much better hahaha. Although.. My computer is still getting fixed
so editing away undereye shadows has become a big deal now that I don’t
have my beloved photoshop.
I love how crisp the photos are (I have to figure out how to make them crisp after uploading them to the blog too though). Sort of just wandered around for a few hours while trying out different functions and playing around with it. This is such an easy camera to use and it honestly does a lot of the work for you – I think it would be great for first time users. The only pictures I’ve edited are the ones of me, just to show what it can actually do.
It got pretty cold after a while (only 5 degrees here right now) so I went back home to read the rest of the latest Vogue, drink more cleansing tea, eat avocados and look through the photos. These are all just for me to get to know my new camera, but I just wanted to share with you guys anyway. I can’t wait to completely change the mood of my blog. Happy sunday darlings!

Stella McCartney vs. Jeffrey Campbell

December 28, 2013
I’ve had my eye on the Stella McCartney heavy tread shoes that has become an incredibly popular A/W 13 item. The over the top industrial vibe is completely balanced out by the clean, white color and I love that Stella used faux leather and thick rubber. They look so iconic and they’re beautiful in both black and white. I can however not find them anywhere online (any tips much appreciated!!) but I stumbled upon the Jeffrey Campbell Scully shoes that is obviously very inspired by Stella’s model – I like that the heel is higher, to me a tall heel is beautiful, but I feel like they’re such a ripoff that I would feel sad wearing them. The Scully’s are made from genuine leather which is a minus to me and you can almost see that the quality is in no way near the original model, especially when you own other Jeffrey Campbell shoes. I do love this design though, so my hunt for the original ones will continue!
What’s your thoughts guys? Would you feel fine wearing the Scully’s even when their such an obvious knock off?

Current music love

December 27, 2013

I have been listening to a lot of peaceful, cheerful, slightly electronic music lately. No idea why, but it put’s me in this certain mood that has made me so happy the past few weeks. There’s a few great channels on youtube that only post music like this and my favorites are thesoundyouneed and majestic casual. Here’s a bunch of my most listened to tracks, I really recommend this music if you’re feeling stressed or just need something to chill too.

A little christmas update

December 25, 2013
Merry christmas guys, I hope everyone had a joyful night with lot’s of yummy food, the presents you wished for and a few good memories to end the year. I rebelled against danish christmas traditions by having myself a tropical night with exotic burgers, nachos and drinks on the side. By the end of the night I’d drunk my bodyweight in piña colada, cosmopolitan and mojito. It was lovely not getting ill after eating the christmas food (that I honestly don’t even like) as the past four christmas dinners – next year will definitely be another tropical night. Cheers to new traditions.
On another note, I have been fading my hair color since I’m leaving purple and lavender to go bright, neon red. Red is such a powerful, expressive and sensual color that has always been a personal favorite, so it will be fun to go a bit crazy with it for a month or two before dying it drastically different. At the moment the color has faded to a not so attractive seafoam green meets grey meets blue kinda shade, and I can’t wait to be able to get rid of it. Also I was thinking about doing a tutorial for this hairstyle as one of my first videos when I start posting again in january?

Banana cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and white chocolate

December 22, 2013

As I told you guys I wanted to bake some pastel cupcakes and cookies for christmas, and here comes a recipe. They taste delicious, but after having survived three trainrides and an hour in a hot bus they don’t really look that yummy anymore. Here’s what you will need:

The cupcakes

150 grams of soft butter
150 grams of sugar
1 egg
1 dl. buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon of natron
a pinch of salt
a pinch of baking powder
130 grams of flour
3 small or 2 large mashed bananas
Paper muffin cups
Metal muffin cups

Preheat the oven to 160C. Whip together the soft butter and the sugar until it’s white and fluffy. Whip the egg in, then add vanilla, the mashed bananas, the buttermilk and whip it again. Put all the dry ingredients together in a seperate bowl, mix it and then add the dry ingredients to the wet before whipping everything together one last time. Now put your paper muffin cups in the metal ones and fill the muffin cups 3/4 with the dough. Bake the muffins for around 30 minutes and let them cool off before decorating.

The Frosting

150 grams of soft butter
150 grams of philadelphia cream cheese
320 grams of icing sugar
1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
Vanilla
Food color
1 bar of white chocolate

Mix together the soft butter, the cream cheese, the icing sugar, lemon juice and vanilla and play around with the food colors you like. I divided the frosting into two bowls. For the pink frosting I used a few drops of red food color and kept adding more to achieve the perfect princess pink. For the purple I started with blue (which turned the mix mint green) then pink and then blue again and kept adding more and more until I was satisfied. I applied it with a piping bag and blended it a bit more with a spatula. Lastly I chopped one bar of rich, white chocolate and sprinkled it on top. Enjoy, and let me know if you do this guys!

My family all loved these cupcakes and have all asked for recipes, so I definitely think they were a success. I really wanted to take nice photos, but my new camera is still on it’s way to me, either arriving tomorrow or on the 27th 🙁 It’s so hard to stay patient when you’re absolutely the opposit, I even called the mail office and got them to send it to another mail office closer to my family haha. Hope you can live with iphone pictures a little longer and also I hope everyone is having a wonderful christmas time! Can you guys believe it’s the 24th in two days, ohmygod?
